My favourite rice noodles!

Ever since my mum needed to try out limiting gluten in her diet, I’ve been on a mission to find the best rice noodles!

Below I’ll review those I’ve found at major supermarket chains, but I’ll add to this post when I’ve tried more. I do like the versatility of rice noodles, how you can use them in soups and stir fries, and the fact that they are so quick to use!

Mama rice noodles, 225g (available at sainsbury’s)

These are my favourite so far. They are thicker than some of the other noodles I’ve tried (although Mama also do vermicelli noodles in both white and brown versions, which are also very good), which I think works well in all kinds of recipes. They hydrated quickly and evenly and held their shape well. I’ll definitely be buying these again!

THAI DRAGON PAD THAI RICE NOODLES, 200G (AVAILABLE AT TESCO)

I wasn’t as keen on these. They didn’t hydrate evenly, so there were still some uncooked parts of the noodle when the rest were totally ready to eat (maybe even a little too soft).

SAINSBURY’S RICE NOODLES, 250G

These are a finer, thinner noodle. They hydrated evenly but I prefer the texture of the thicker noodles, like the Mama noodles. Obviously this is a personal preference and these were still very good noodles!
